Deer Fight
I said I’d say more about the incident with the deer… The night I drove into Jackson it was snowing pretty hard, and like most winter nights – it was DARK. I was driving at a safe speed for a well trafficked highway (~ 40 mph in 4wd), but didn’t take into consideration wildlife. The road has a “gutter” if you can call it that, about 5 deer (I know this after the fact) were standing there waiting for some nice bright lights to cross in. Land Cruiser 1, Deer 0.
Car Frustration
Turns out some pretty shady stuff has been done to the engine of my truck. Right now its at a specialty shop, and the guy sounded like he was about to hurl in disgust while talking to me on the phone. At least it will all be fixed now!
While I’m carless, I’m hanging out in Providence, RI, so if you have any ideas or fun things to do please drop me a line!
The 411
I’ve been snowboarding quite a bit, unfortunately Nucci’s camera has been acting up so I don’t have any new photos to show you, but I do have a new jacket, which I will be showing off in the future!
I’ve also done a bit of sailing in the past month. The Charleston Intersectional was kinda lame, we only sailed on Saturday afternoon, no wind in the morning and again all day Sunday. We ended up tied for 5th in A (Adele and I) and 5th in B (Ben and Betsy), 4th overall. Not bad considering we hadn’t raced sailed since November. The Charleston Team Race was much more eventful, we (Elisabeth/I, Storck/Clementine, and Peter/Liz) finished 2nd out of 8, and learned a lot. BC ran away with it, but they’ve been sailing together for a long time, so it was kind of expected.
The LC is going to the shop to get a much needed tune-up!
Amp & Sub
Recently I was given a 12” Alpine Sub woofer in a sealed box, and a 250 Watt Amp to power it. Well on Friday I took my entire interior apart and got it installed. Its awesome. My truck is pretty loud on the road because its got wide tires and its old – but with a solid stereo I can turn up the volume and it doesn’t bother me at all. Since my door speakers are pretty small (to fit in the original mounts) – there was a pretty obvious lack of bass that no equalizer could fix. With the sub and amp all setup – it rocks. So if you want to bump to 50, it sounds just as hot as the dance club. Big Up yourself – respek.
New Dome Light
I’m very proud of my self right now. I just made my first repair to my truck. The switch on the dome light was beginning to fail, so I took it apart, replaced the broken piece and it works perfectly… yay me!
Left to fix: Rear U-Joints Passenger Rear Door Actuator (to turn on that shiny new dome light!) Rear Passenger Shock Adjuster
To buy: ARB Front Bumper IPF Driving Lights & Headlights Warn 12K winch Full-Float rear axle FJZ80 E-Lockers (hence the FF rear axle) .... .. .
One day. Its a fun project.

New Tire
I went 4 wheeling yesterday, and managed to split the sidewall on one of my tires! I’ll have to get a new tire to replace it as the hole is pretty big. The annoying thing was, when the spare tire was put on, the shop used air tools and broke the weld that holds the stud in place. This meant that I couldn’t get the spare off to switch! I had to drive out on a flat and get the truck towed to shop with a welding machine. Sucked, but part of the game.
