I’ll be in Oregon for a few days for the Team Racing Nationals. You can get more info on CollegeSailing.org.
College Nationals: Women's
The chicks have started racing. Today was pretty lame with it mostly raining but they’re doing fine. Currently in 4th after two days of racing (more like one and a half) they’ll look to pour it on for the final day of racing. Get results and updates here: http://www.collegesailing.org/nwicsa/na/results.htm.
WAHOO WAHHH!
Land Cruiser Pictures
I’ve gotten some pictures of the new ride. Check em’ out here: http://andrewloe.com/gallery/view/wheeling/fj60. Someday when I have time I’ll upload all my pictures and have a nice gallery. Today is not that day.
New Style!
With the release of WordPress 1.2, I have decided its finally time to update from the default template! So please enjoy and post if you have any comments on the new style.
Exams
Everyone’s favorite week of the year is rapidly approaching at Dartmouth. I won’t be posting as much as I get prepared for nationals and finish all my school work for the term.
Gmail - Inbox
It looks like I now have 1TB of space for email? Awesome? I think so?
“You are currently using 1 MB (0%) of your 1000000 MB.”—Gmail
Edit – Turns out it was just a typo. Oh well, hard to complain about 1GB.
Gmail
I got my hands on a Gmail account. Its pretty cool, but it won’t become my main email client. I think its best to stick to standards when it comes to communication mediums. I like knowing I can check my email at any location any time because my mail is fully compliant with POP, IMAP and SMTP.
E3 HL and CS Demo!
I managed to get my hands on the hottest thing to come out of E3 (IMHO!) – the footage of Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source. If you’d like to take a peek the file is available here.
TorrentFlux
I just setup TorrentFlux on my server! This has to be one of the coolest scripts I have ever seen! It downloads files for you from a web server and then I can connect to my server and download them off my personal FTP. This is better because it doesn’t require me to use my outgoing bandwidth on my machine which slows it down. I also get faster downloads because I my server has a much better upload then I do, and download is proportional to upload speed. I can also use this system to seed new files.
The Legend of Zelda
E3 is this week/end and I am a huge game fan myself. One of my favorite series of all time is the The Legend of Zelda. My favorite is the Ocarina of Time for N64. but I have enjoyed every title I played dating back to 8-bit Nintentdo. I have yet to play the Wind Waker as I cannot get my hands on a GameCube. But I plan to complete it this summer. Check out the movie here.
Hollywood Backs Stem-Cell Research
Yahoo! has an interesting article on Hollywood backing stem-cell research to help cure disease. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20040509/ap_on_sc/stem_cell_bedfellows
iCal Calendars
I have started to use iCal to organize my life and found Apple has a really cool library of calendars that can be subscribed to. I just signed up for US Holidays, Christian Holidays, and Red Sox Baseball.
Youth Champs
John got into the Youth Champs again this year. This will be his 5th event and he has a great shot at winning this year. Check out the competior list. According to John, Parker Shinn will provide the most competition.
Crappy Weather
Why does it have to get so cold that Professors who live in Vermont are reporting almost an inch of snow overnight? Why does it have to be sub-50 temperatures in MAY? WHY DO I LIVE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AGAIN? What a downer.
New Shades!
I god to pick-up my new shades today. They’re UPDs from Kaenon. I already had a similar pair but I thought they were lost – until they were found and given to me this weekend at New Englands. Apparently they had fallen off my head behind the couch at the house we were staying at during the Friis Trophy… I may or may not have been SLIGHTLY.. uhhh…. inebriated.. :) This is my third pair of Kaenons, I also have a pair of Kurbs.
We Qualified!
Yesterday we started out extremely well and went undefeated through the first round robbin. Today we completed a round of 8 and a final four. After being mathematically locked into qualifying, Scott decided it best to not sail since his ankle was hurt and Scotty L sailed in his place. We had a poor showing in the final four, loosing all of our races – but we still qualify and thats all we really cared about. Props to Harvard who won and Brown who also qualified. Regatta report is on the ICSA mailing list.
Trux
I just uploaded some video from the Trux regatta that I sailed this spring – it shows me doing quite well in the first race (ended up third) and some footage of Peter Fleming who was sailing B Division. I was sailing with Jimmy Attridge 07’. Trux Video.
